It is a long established practice in the Church to use the term ‘Synod’ for decisive meetings at significant times where members of the Church come together to review one or more issues and make decisions.

Over fifty years after the Second Vatican Council and in view both of the multiple challenges facing us as well as the opportunities that contemporary cultural changes afford us, we are at a significant moment in the history of our Archdiocese.

There is clear duty on us to discern carefully together what the Spirit is saying to the Church in the Archdiocese of Liverpool and agree on common goals and actions for the coming years.

Malcolm McMahon OP, Archbishop of Liverpool

At Holy Family we will be reflecting on the first theme:

‘All called and gifted by God’

In October/November children in Years 5 & 6 will participate in a special collective worship to consider the first theme and how ‘we are invited to think about the job that God has given each and every one of us’.

Families are also being asked to explore the Themes and to continue to listen, reflect and respond to these over the next few months.

Themes:

‘All called and gifted by God’ – 20th October – 17th November 2019

‘Sharing the Mission of Jesus’ – 17th November – 15th December 2019

‘How we pray together’ 19th January – 16th February 2020

‘Building Community, nurturing belonging’ 16th February – 15th March 2020.

There will be an opportunity to also respond online via: www.synod2020.co.uk
