Welcome to the Year 4 Class Page

Here you will find all the information that will be relevant for children in this year group. We look forward to sharing exciting, key learning opportunities with you across both Core and Foundation subjects. Our topics include ‘The Vikings’, ‘South America’ and ‘Human Impact’. This includes a curriculum overview, knowledge organisers and our Year 4 Reading spine, which is designed to support key themes with links made across a range of curriculum areas.

Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

Year 4 is a very special year as the children prepare to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During this sacrament, the children have the opportunity to build their friendship with God by asking for forgiveness. Also, the children make their First Holy Communion and receive the body of Christ in the form of bread for the first time.

Multiplication Tables Check

Your child will be participating in the multiplication tables check in June. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. The Multiplication Check will also help to identify if your child may need additional support with their times tables.

Physical Education

Year 4 P.E lessons will take place every Monday and Thursday. Healthy Snack Children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack for their morning break, e.g. piece of fruit. Water Bottles Children are encouraged to bring in a re-usable water bottle which they can take home each night.
