All About our Nursery Class

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Holy Family Catholic Primary School and are excited that your child is starting their learning journey with us.

At our school in Cronton, Widnes we pray, play, and learn together showing respect, responsibility, and resilience. We will work together to ensure your child is secure, happy, and settled as quickly as possible in the setting. Our nursery class provides a firm foundation on which to build future academic, social, and emotional success and builds up a sense of confidence for children who may join us in our Reception class in the future.

We know it is key for parents, carers and schools to work together to ensure that the children’s social, emotional and educational needs are addressed according to a child’s individual needs. At Holy Family, we strive to ensure that the time spent in our nursery over the next twelve months or longer will be a very enjoyable and happy place to be.

Our door is always open, if there are any worries or concerns, please talk to us no matter how small.

We currently have 15 and 30 hour places available and would love to hear from you via the school office if you would like to visit or find out more.

Please follow us on Twitter @HFCrontonEYFS

We have our own Nursery class with space for 26 children. Our Nursery and Reception classes are connected through an adjoining door and we called this the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage Unit’.

Our Nursery offers 30 hours (full time) and 15 hours (morning sessions only) with the following timetable:

Morning session

Afternoon session

8.30 – 11.30

11.30 – 12.15

12.15 – 3.15

Lunchtime wraparound is charged at a cost of £3 per day.

Wraparound/Holy Family Clubhouse

We offer wrap around provision for Nursery children at our HF Clubhouse from 7.30 – 8.30am and from 3.15 – 5.15pm where we have spaces for 30 children from Nursery to Year 6. Further details can be found here.

If you are interested in applying for a place, you can complete an ‘Expression of Interest’ form (does not guarantee admission) by emailing the school –, or contacting the school via telephone on 0151 424 3926.

In the event of the Nursery class being oversubscribed we will revert to applying the criteria of our school admissions policy which is available to view in the policies section of our website. Attending the nursery class of a particular Knowsley primary school DOES NOT give your child priority for a place in the Reception class. More information about applying for a Reception class place and details of admission procedures and policies (oversubscription criteria) for reception classes can be found in the Primary Education Admissions Booklet available at
