Welcome to our Year 1 page which includes all the details to help you and your child know a little about their year group. In Y1 we love to pray, play and learn together so enjoy spending time in continuous provision to help us learn through play which is guided by the children’s interests. As we progress through the year, we begin to build in more formal time for learning where we complete activities at our tables. As we introduce more formal time, our continuous provision time is limited to the afternoon sessions and when we head into our final term, we are ready for a full formal day in school. Our transition into formal learning over the course of the year helps to ensure a smooth transition into Year 2. We are very resilient learners and love to do lots of exciting projects. We are enjoying an exciting learning journey together and we thank you all for your continuous support.
What will your child need to bring with them?
- In Y1 we do PE on a Monday and Thursday. PE kits should be brought in on a Monday and these will be sent back home on a Friday to be cleaned.
- Healthy snack
- Reusable water bottle
- Shared Reading Books. These will be sent home on a Monday and should be returned on Friday ready to be changed and redistributed the following week. You should be reading with your child every night for 10 minutes. When you read with your child you should document this in your child’s reading diary and return this on a Friday with the reading books.
- Homework is sent out via ParentApp on a Monday and consists of a Maths activity and phonics games on the Spelling shed. This will be sent out on a Monday and should be completed ready for the following week. We like to see evidence of the Maths activities through pictures and comments via Tapestry.
- Packed lunch (if necessary
