The local offer: SEND Code of Practice (2014)
The Department for Education (DfE) published a new special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice on 30 July 2014. It came into force from 1 September 2014, replacing the previous 2001 Code.
The new Code reflects the changes introduced by the Children and Families Act 2014.
The Local Offer:
- is for children and young people, aged up to 25 years old, with special educational needs and/or disabilities, their families and the professionals working with them.
- provides clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about the services available in Knowsley, and beyond – and how to access them.
- responds to local needs and aspirations by involving disabled children and young people, and those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and their parents/carers.
For further information about local services or to enquire about support that is available for your child, you can contact Knowsley’s SEND Local Offer Team on 0151 443 3247 or further information can be found using this link Knowsley Local Offer.
In addition, information can also be found using the Family Information Service website: www.knowsleyinfo.co.uk
All schools must have regard to what the Code of Practice says whenever decisions are taken relating to children with SEND.
At Holy Family, we have produced a document which details our School Offer and the SEN Information required as stated in the SEN Code of Practice.
